I'm a new rider (two weeks, ~450 miles in so far) in California. Lane splitting is legal here, and I have done 95% of my riding so far around my small town. I typically only split/filter to the front of a red light if the line/light will be long and I'll have a benefit doing it. I haven't yet split with moving traffic as I've had no need.So let me setup this scenario for my question: I split to the front of a red light, far two left lanes are turn lanes, two right lanes go straight, and far right turns right only. I'm split in between the two straights, and go into the front of the farthest right lane that goes straight as I need to turn right in the driveway across the intersection. Light turns green, I take off and try to distance myself from the cars behind me, except the car behind me in the lane I pulled into is stepping on it, and forces me over into the far left side of the lane and needing to slow down and get behind him so I don't miss my turn.Aren't the cars behind me supposed to yield and let the motorcycle in front basically get ahead and actually be able to be a single file just as if I was in a car? My assumption is this guy/girl was just being a dick and was upset I went (or was trying to anyway lmao) in front of them.I think it could have been avoided if I made it a point to be 100% in front of the dickhead car but I would have been well in the crosswalk, which I'd rather not be in, for obvious reasons. I guess there's a small chance they couldn't see me (as there always is) but I was on their front left both stopped at the light and took off before them at the light so if they didn't see me...yikes. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/c0ttzr/lane_splitting_question/?utm_source=ifttt
