Lane splitting (filtering) can be good. Doing it at 90+ MPH can be very bad. This isn't news to most of you.

I commute to work on 985 in north Georgia. Several times, I've seen a guy in a red and black jacket and jeans ripping through traffic on a sport bike with black and green fairings. Nearly scared the shit out of me the first time he nearly took off my mirror. There are so many things that can go wrong. I watch my mirrors and shoulder check when changing lanes. I may be a cager, but there are lots of other things that could go wrong since most vehicles are larger than my car. It's a civic, but I don't want to tangle with a dump truck. No one wins in that situation. Most recently, he whipped between another sedan and mine. My fender was just about level with the other car's quarter panel. If idiot sedan driver hadn't been completely absorbed in his phone and I hadn't seen the squid coming, a misstep by any of us would have sent the biker under the wheels of the semi tailgating me.I'm preaching to the choir around here, but talk to your buddies. Might be lights out for them, but they could leave quite a shockwave in their wake. I've had buddies suffer because someone just wasn't paying attention. I'm paying attention...just give me something to work with. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/bwi61m/lane_splitting_filtering_can_be_good_doing_it_at/?utm_source=ifttt
