I ride a VFR800 on the weekends now. It's fast, nimble ish, and fun. Moving into a bigger city so I'm out looking at the usual suspects- given my height- are supermotos. I do everything from groceries to commuting to weekend twisty runs, and I just wouldn't be able to handle the clipons in the city.Against my better judgment, I had an urge to go try out one of Harley's Sport Cruisers in LA, so I went to the dealership and got my life signed away for a test ride. They have you do them side by side in order to get a feel for 2 different bikes. There was this older model bike ~5 years, scrambler style and TALL that I had my eye on.It was loud. It was hot. My right leg was burnt to a crisp. It was ridiculously vibrational at stop lights and shakes itself to pieces. It is SUPER top heavy. The damn thing redlines when the VFR just gets started (7K), but it also had WAY better brakes than I was expecting. The suspension made my VFR's look like a godsend. There's this weird thing too where if you want to be sporty with it too and grip the tank, your knees have to be leaned in more than your ankles. The loooooow end torque was way too fun in the city. Instant power. I wasn't going THAT fast, but I felt like I was getting there soon. The butt dyno and the speedo were telling me two different things, and for once, I was totally okay with that. It's stupid, hot, and heavier than it needs to be. Coming back, the VFR felt like a precision guided missile in comparison, and the throttle response was WAY tighter, but I keep thinking about that bike. It had personality in a way nothing else really does. What's your experience been? via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/byfy51/i_test_rode_a_harley_today/?utm_source=ifttt
