Stolen bike found on CL

My motorcycle was stolen back in October, filed a police report and accepted it as gone for good. Just found it posted on Craigslist, lightly done up and modded, WITH MY PLATES. Called police this morning and they informed me it was found and impounded back in NOVEMBER, and went unclaimed and was likely sold at auction. I was not contacted by the city or police to inform me it had been recovered. The address listed on my registration (also listed on the report) was not current at the time of the theft, but I'm sure I provided them with my current address. My phone number is listed on the report as well. Nothing. I hate myself for not following up, I'm sick about it, but I just accepted it as gone or maybe one day I'd get a long shot call from the cops.
