I was riding (the speed limit) on this road that’s popular for a bunch of twists and also some good breweries - I’m a newer rider, so I was taking it easy riding with a buddy. We turn a corner, he suddenly motions for me to slow down, and in the same instant I see there are stopped cars in our lane on this blind curve. I put the brakes on, panicked and thought I wasn’t stopping fast enough, jammed them on, and locked the front wheel going the last 5 mph đ hurt some of my pride and lost a mirror, but I was in full gear, so nothing else. The same could not be said for the rider on the road in front of the stopped cars. He was also a new rider, but he had tried to race another rider in the twisties on this road, and he’d slid out and smacked a guard rail. He was conscious when we pulled over (/fell over, but I picked the bike right back up and pulled in front of the cars). My experienced buddy made sure I was okay and then walked over to this guy. He was pretty terrified and very hurt - his helmet saved his life (it had gotten smacked hard against the concrete side guard) but his tee shirt and jeans and vans sneakers didn’t do anything for the rest of him. I saw bone on his foot before I had to walk away, but my buddy was walking him through breathing and calming down and saw the hole in his arm and all that shit. Lots of blood on the road. The ambulance arrived, and we pulled into a parking lot to check my bike over, then we split and went home.I ‘m new to motorcycles, I love riding, and I know that I’m going to learn the skills to be better, but this shit really scared me. I will always do my best to ride my skill level, and I will always wear all the gear (now steel toes are gonna be a part of that, just leather is nice and light but that guy’s foot bone tells another story), but I know motorcycling is inherently dangerous, and ...this was fucking scary.I’m going to keep riding. What do you guys do when you see some scary shit or some scary shit happens to you? How do you put that into perspective and ride forward?TLDR: I saw the aftermath of a gnarly crash today while I was riding and it honestly scares me a little. I’m going to keep riding, but I want to know how y’all put that into perspective. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/btr3v0/saw_some_fd_up_stuff_today_i_just_need_to_write/?utm_source=ifttt
