Please take your time getting familiar with a "new to you" bike

I work at a dealership. I'm not a salesman and I'm not in service. I'm in between. My job is to get new bikes to the showroom floor and to do a walk-through when a customer has bought a bike.It surprises me how often people cut me off while I'm trying to explain all the features on their brand new or used bike. I also try to advise them to get familiar with the clutch and brakes before even touching the throttle. Most people don't listen. Often it's because they're excited to get going or feel like they already know everything.Even if you're experienced, please understand that your ninja 300 starter bike is very different from a ZX6R or an R6. Take your time to feel the clutch, brakes, weight, ect. I've seen too many people hop on a brand new bike and go straight into a wall.Just yesterday a young lady went straight across 4 lanes of traffic into a wall. She broke her leg and arm. I walked her blood covered bike back to the shop so it didn't have to get towed away. She was on a 390 Duke. She said she was experienced and didn't need any advise.Don't feel embarrassed or anything if you feel like you need to ride in circles in a parking lot for a while. It can prevent you from having an accident. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/bl1qfk/please_take_your_time_getting_familiar_with_a_new/?utm_source=ifttt
