Just trying to stay alive today.

Driving in Los Angeles today (drove to work and to a few customers). I managed to drive on the 405, 101, 134, 5, and the 2, through all types of traffic, enjoying lane splitting past all the 4 wheeled suckers. Great Day! Wonderful weather! The last part of my journey, I almost got plastered on two separate occasions. BTW, I am a middle-aged man who no longer rides like I used to decades ago (I now have a Suzuki Boulevard C50 touring - 800 cc, black/chrome with whitewalls - pretty!). The first incident, I was heading into a rather large parking lot, slowing down towards a spot. One dude aggressively backs up and doesn't see me at all. There was nothing obstructing his field of vision, and I had given him plenty of room. Regardless, he backs up and I managed to hit the horn and gunned it just quick enough to miss getting totally plowed over. He knew he messed up, and got out of his car and profusely apologized. We've all been there. You can only get so mad and you're just phased and happy to be upright. OK, cool. I leave the store to continue on home, and not 10 minutes later, this older woman driving a Ford F250, not a 150, the bigger one, makes a left turn out of a store thru double yellow lines and doesn't see me at all occupying the left lane. There was a service type truck to my right and I somehow managed to squeeze by as she never even saw me. Even the guy in the service truck began yelling at her to look where she's driving. At the intersection, she rolls down her window, again totally accepting fault. My reply was "your mistake is my life. You're driving a 6,000 pound vehicle." The male older passenger told me to calm down and that he has a son or something that rides, too. I told him that I'm yelling because her lack of awareness almost got me killed or at least injured, and that I don't care anything about his son. I didn't curse at them, but told them that I have a right to be angry. It was three minutes from my house. The streets of LA are tough enough in a car, but shit man, twice in less than 10 minutes sorta fucks you up a bit. As a teacher for two decades, I get angry, but simply tell them that they have to be better and learn to pay closer attention. Back in the days, I would have taken her mirror off or kicked the window (done both in the past - but the window didn't break). Just thought I'd share my harrowing adventures driving the the San Fernando Valley today, and hoping you all get home safe.TLDR: Almost got flattened twice riding in LA today. Sometimes no matter how safe you are, it's the other person. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/bsn1nr/just_trying_to_stay_alive_today/?utm_source=ifttt
