I’m looking for advice on crossing rail tracks that run parallel and flush with a street.

A few years ago, I was riding in downtown Houston. I changed lanes to my left across “light rail” tracks that are parallel to and flush with the street. The front wheel stuck in the recessed portion of track and I went down.
