Amateur thieves tried to (unsuccessfully) steal my bike. Send it to a shop or wait for the new ignition?

So I own a Street Triple R in NYC; after an extensive time in the shop fixing a busted radiator and some other things, I come home today to see my bike in a different parking spot, off the corner of a quieter street.Steering lock was busted; bottom of the ignition was broken off, with the circuitry tightly taped together with electrical tape.Right now it’s immobilized, and I’ve put my cover with two bike locks on it, but I’m terrified that someone will come to finish what they’ve started. The bike locks will last all of five minutes.I’m also equally terrified of the $900 quote I was given to fix it, not including towing. My friend is telling me to order the ignition and fix it up myself, but it’ll take a week or two to get into my hands. How hard is the ignition replacement for a novice rider? Or should I just get it towed to another shop and pray for a cheaper quote? via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/ar4sca/amateur_thieves_tried_to_unsuccessfully_steal_my/?utm_source=ifttt
