I got a ninja 400 and holy shit is it fun. It blows my mind that it is a relatively as a small, slow bike. I've never been on anything this fast before. Here are some mistakes I made on my first solo ride:Used too much rear brake when coming to a stop. Thankful for ABS.Didn't fully release pressure on the shift lever from 1st to 2nd and couldn't get into 3rd. That one took a while to figure out.Made a slow U-turn on a steep uphill and tipped the bike over. Thankful for frame sliders and the light weight of the bike.Didn't wave back to a fellow rider. Whoever you are I'm sorry.Way too jerky with the front brake at slow speeds. I'm used to riding a scooter where it's nearly impossible to over break.Letting my focus drift to things around me like seeing who that person over there is waving at.I'm glad I went with a starter bike given the types of mistakes I'm making. It's plenty of bike for me now and probably for a while too. Soaking up the information in this sub has been majorly helpful for getting me to recognize the mistakes I'm making. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/a4oakt/new_rider_lessons_learned_so_far/?utm_source=ifttt
