My bike died at work the other day, so I had to explain what the hell I was doing when I was trying to push-start it. Everyone kept asking me why I didn't kick start it. Now, most of these guys have no experience with motorcycles, but just the sheer quantity of people asking a question that never came to my mind got my thinking. How common are kick-starters so that people seem to think every bike has one? I'm guessing the misconception comes from people watching bikers kick their bike into first from neutral, but now I really want to know. How common are kick-starters?
