Molding a custom lap timer mount under the top lip of a windscreen?

I had this idea for how to mount my lap timer on my R1 but I was unsure if it was really feasible or could be trusted to hold up on the track. Has anyone done something like this before? I want to take some kind of expanding or molding foam and create a wedge-shaped panel under the top lip of my windscreen, shaped to hold a lap timer.
