Hope I'm posting in the right sub. First off, I'm posting a person who drives a truck. I moved to CA recently and am wondering about the etiquette(if that's the right phrasing) of lane splitting. An example of my question: This morning I was driving to work w/a co-woker and traffic was very slow, basically stop and go. We were in the HOV lane, stopped, and in the lane next to me(the furthest left) the other car was stopped as well. A motorcycle came up, was revving his engine quite loudly and slowly made his way between, paused and stared me down, shaking his head in "no" way and then revved off and rode away. My co-woker flipped him off and called him an ass.Do I need to make room for him? I was in the middle of the lane, wasn't that close to the right lane markers. I get that my truck( a v6 4Door tacoma) isn't smallest car but I wasn't trying to block him or any other motorcycle. I've seen other cars/truck make a seemingly drastic turn to the left, to make room. Do i need to do something like that as well?I kinda felt bad, but was under the impression lane-splitting is an active choice and that I don't necessarily have to move, if i'm not huggin the right side of the HOV or the left side of the left lane.Sorry if this is too long. I just wanna make sure i'm not being a dick when i'm driving. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/9djerg/question_about_lane_splitting_in_california/?utm_source=ifttt
