This may be obvious or known to a lot of you but I’d like to put this out there for people who don’t know. Within the the last week I’ve had two friends of mine go down for the same reason. They were both using aftermarket tire valve caps. Let me explain. Some people change the valve cap for looks. I’ve seen some people put those LED valve caps on. And a few people use those Bluetooth tire pressure monitoring systems that utilize the valve cap to read tire pressure to their phones or what not.The aftermarket tire valves tend to be a lot heavier than the original plastic ones. At higher speeds they cause wear and tear on the valve stem making it weak (this excludes metal valve stems obviously). Weak tire stems can cause a flat tire or even worse a blowout which happened to my friend last night.Just be cautious of the mods you put on your bikes. I don’t want to see people go down for tiny things such as this. Ride safe all. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/96ha59/psa_aftermarket_tire_valve_caps/?utm_source=ifttt
