Wore earplugs for the first time...

I’ve never watched a silent movie but I kinda have an idea on how it goes now. I have a super loud akra full system s1000rr and I could barely hear it. Is this even safe? I couldn’t hear ANYTHING. Took those bad boys off in the office and I felt like I stepped into a metallica concert. And its just people speaking on the phone.
