Slow News Day : Despite a tremendous show, I found myself somehow disappointed with one rider at Assen : Lorenzo's 7th place. Then I looked for numbers to help me put things in perspective. The results I came up with were unexpected [at least to me].

u/Diahreabombb's post about the 4.4 seconds gap between MM & JL rose my interest, so I dug further. In fact, aside from his win [against a depleted field] in 2010, Assen'18 was Lorenzo's closest finish to the winner in his entire motoGP career.All of the protagonists gave everything they could during that race after all.
