This morning is another morning I can count myself lucky having narrowly escaped a moment we all have felt at some point, whether we are a novice rider or expert rider with countless years on the saddle.I'm riding up the 15N and anyone who knows SoCal drivers, knows they can be a worrisome and distracting presence in any given one of our usual 5-6 lanes. It is 0600 in the morning and there is some unusual extra morning traffic, but I'm going about 80mph with the flow of the left most lane, i.e. the fast lane. I start to see a pretty nice morning sunrise horizon across the SoCal landscape, that rather desolate yet beautiful mountainous terrain we sometimes take for granted out here.I look forward again after a max 3 second distraction and then it happens, the moment we all fear on the highway, the moment that when it happens all you can do is think, "how did I let this happen to me... I always pride myself on my focus and attention and yet here I am questioning everything that led to this moment"I fart...my friend of the freeways, my stallion of the fast lane, and my companion of the pavement has betrayed me. This vibrating 2 wheeled chariot of joy has deceived my sphincter into thinking this is the time to let rip my personal exhaust and back fire. Not only does deceive my chili ring to cast itself from the garden of eden, but the vibrations and distraction of the road make me unsure if it was pure exhaust or if I outright shat myself at the start of the day... we all take MSF courses, maybe go practice drills in empty parking lots, but there is no drill, no safety brief, and no discussion group or internet forums that can truly prepare you to avoid this terrifying moment in the life of a rider. After about 5 minutes I am only 95% sure I have no shat myself but it's another long 20 minutes of riding until I get to work and I am 100% sure.So my fellow riders, I am telling you now from shat free pants that every day is a risk when you throw a leg over your own stallion. Dont ever take a clean day for granted and stay focused at all times. Keep the rubber side down and your nether regions dry. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/8ujmya/everyday_is_a_risk/?utm_source=ifttt
