The 'R' stands for hard to find.

Just got back from picking up my new-to-me bike; a 2002 Ducati 998RIt's #460 or 700, and 1 of the 50 imported into the US; no clue how many are surviving but they are pretty damn rare. You'll see one go up for sale around 1 every year or two in the US.It's in pretty good condition; it's not a garage queen with some cosmetic damage but no cracks in the (carbon fiber) fairings, just chipping.
