Trying to build my first cafe racer need advice

I just bought an 82 Virago 750. I want to build a cafe racer out of it. I have had a few cruisers but never anything sporty. I just got the bike and am in the rear down planning stage and have hit my first roadblock. For the time being I want to keep the stock forks. I want to use clipons but have been told that can’t be done on the stock forks buy a guy that used to have one. I have looked on the webs but can’t really find help, or decent pictures.
