Just four days on from the conclusion of the post-Valencia Grand Prix, MotoGP teams and riders are continuing their 2020 preparations at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto for the final two days of track action in 2019. Yamaha closed the Valencia Test on top after Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Maverick Viñales ended up fastest ahead of the Petronas Yamaha SRT duo of Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli. Viñales and teammate Valentino Rossi will continue work on their 2020 prototype that broke cover in Valencia, with the satellite duo hoping for their first taste of next year’s Yamaha M1.
Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez was hard at work in Valencia trying various items with next year’s bike in mind and it will be more of the same for the World Champion in Jerez. Progress and adaptation will be key for the Spaniard’s 2020 teammate, brother Alex Marquez, as he continues to build towards his debut premier class season.
Ducati unveiled a new chassis in Valencia as they look to finally find an answer to their mid-corner woes. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) was pleased with the initial work done on the 2020 prototype but will be using both days in Jerez to collect more data ahead of another prototype at 2020’s Sepang Test. Teammate Danilo Petrucci will be hoping to be back to full fitness after missing one and a half days in Valencia, but Pramac Racing’s Jack Miller will once again be on hand to help with any 2020 work if called upon.
Alex Rins and Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) will have test rider Sylvain Guintoli on hand to help continue their work on the 2020 engine and chassis that was tested in Valencia, according to Team Manager Davide Brivio. Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pol Espargaro says the Austrian factory will have some new items to test in Jerez. Aprilia will work on various things relating to their electronics as they wait for their 2020 prototype to be unveiled in Sepang.
