What Happened to Chris Vermulen?

I've seen Chris here and there with very few comments. Does anyone know what happened and why he was no longer in MotoGP? John Hopkins jumped into Kawasaki after Suzuki...but then I did not see Chris in the series....that was when I had my motorcycle accident...I was out for few months.
