[OC] The left turners, part two.

The left turners, part two

Previously I wrote a post where I looked into how many points each rider scored in anticlockwise tracks (with more left handers) than on clockwise tracks (with more right handers).

However to better understand rider performance, instead of computing a single value (the average points per type of track), this time I have plotted the distribution of positions for anticlockwise and clockwise tracks for each rider (with at least 100 point in his MotoGP career) since 2012, when MotoGP moved to 1000cc.

And well, yes, Marquez "only" scores +1.8 points per race in anticlockwise tracks (Iannone is still king in that metric with +2.3 additional points on clockwise tracks), but Marquez has a record of 66.7% victories in anticlockwise tracks, compared with 31.0% in clockwise tracks.

Interestingly enough, arguably the main title contender to beat Marquez is Dovizioso, who has 0 victories in anticlockwise tracks but 13 on clockwise ones. Still faring a bit better than his teammate Petrucci, who has 1 victory and 10 podiums, all of them on clockwise tracks.
