Just wanted to post my observations/thoughts from Silverstone, specifically interested if anyone experienced the same as I did in the third point.
Firstly and perhaps most shocking to me was on the friday I was in the Club grandstand at the end of fp2. Naturally Rossi got a fairly big cheer at the end of the session compared to the riders that had gone past already, what surprised me though is both Marquez and Dovi got bigger cheers after. Note normal service was resumed on race day. What I did notice is I was surrounded by young fans. I guess this goes to show that the 'Moto GP after Rossi' debate is stupid. The young fans keep coming but the riders eventually move on. To these young fans Rossi is a potential Podium threat at most they have never known otherwise. Likewise my partner got into GP last year and wasnt sure why both me and my dad loved Pedrosa so much as he was kinda just there from her point of view.
Second observation is Quatuaro could be something special. This isn't a surprise given the season so far. But it got me thinking when I was watching the Moto 2 race do teams in Moto GP give to much importance to the Moto 2 title. Fabio didnt so much in Moto 2 but Is excelling in the GP. Meanwhile riders like Tito although doubtlessly talented are not up to the task. I will give you an example it was visable to see how much Binder had to wrestle the KTM on sunday. He wont win the championship. But if you were Honda surely seeing someone able to wrestle a bike race distance to a strong finish is worth more on your current machine than someone who rode a smooth bike to the championship?
Third point is somewhat sour I am afraid. The sport would be better off without some of its fans. When Rins crossed the line in first the stands erupted. If you werent their but are familiar with the atmosphere at football grounds it was the same reaction as a team scoring the winner in the 89th min. The crowd was going mental. That is fine. I took part in this because it was amazing racing not because Marc lost. However immediately a guy behind me said "serves you right stupid c*nt". I wasnt really sure what he was talking about until the podium where he boo'd Marc when he got his trophy, strange as we were not exactly close to the podium. Then in Moto2 when Alex crash the same guy said "HAHAHA silly Marquez Twat." At this point I turned to him and asked what his problem was, of course he was head to toe in 46, but that might be irrelevant... Shortly after he got up announced to his family there is no point watching this shit as we have already seen A.Marquez crash and left.
I cant comprehend why some people hold so much hate, enough to despise the brother of the person you dislike. Why hate anyone for being good at what they do and being involved in the majority of exciting things in the current Moto Gp generation (As a Dovi fan) Soured and otherwise fantastic weekend at Silverstone.
