Every post is about him losing his ride with Honda. He has a two year contract. He’s not going anywhere.
Lorenzo is a man with 68 victories (42 in MotoGP), 152 podiums, and 5 (3 MotoGP) world championships. The only rider to get a championship during the Marquez reign. He takes some time to adapt to a new bike, Honda saw his last two seasons on Ducati and are aware of this.
Honda kept Pedrosa for 13 seasons. He had 54 victories (31 in MotoGP). And 0 MotoGP Championships.
They kept Hayden across 8 seasons and two more wildcards. He won 3 races and 1 championship in that entire time. They even brought him back after five years at Ducati where his best finish was 7th in the Championship. His best finish after his title was 6th.
Honda are patient. Lorenzo is still a proven race winner and the only rider besides their other rider, Marc Marquez, to win a Championship since 2013.
If they do fire him, they’re crazy, and it’s unprecedented as far as I am aware. It’d signal to other riders that contracts don’t matter to Honda. Don’t perform instantly, contract or not, dominate history or not, you’re out. That’s a big risk, both for Honda’s reputation and for riders looking to sign with them.
