Perhaps I'm just getting older and more crotchety, but the TV direction this year is just awful.
Dorna, you have the some of the fastest machines in the world running laps around some of the best tracks in the world. I do not give a damn about seeing the following when we're watching hot laps for qualifying or racing:
- shots of the crowd watching what I'd like to be seeing
- shots of team leaders watching what I'd like to be seing
- shots of pit boards for lengths of up to 5 seconds (and not lap after lap please, we have on screen timing to know the gaps, thanks)
It drives me up the wall. Show this stuff when there's a lull, not when the action is happening.
And worse still is how they'll cover the most inane things while ignoring actual action. During Q1 today they were showing Syahrin lapping while ignoring Dovi. That's just a recent example, they do it all the time.
Rant over.
