Honda Magna vs Goldwing

I'm looking to buy a Honda Magna, or an old gl1100. I can't decide on which one. My purpose of the bike isn't necessarily to Cafe it out, but definitely to strip them down, put flat bars on it, and make it how I want. I love the magna due to the v4 engine and power they make. Yet, the goldwing seems like such an interesting old bike to completely transform. I think a goldwing would be more reliable and easy to work on, but I also don't know how much better it'd be than a magna.
