So I am shopping around for some new tires for the GS1000, (100/90/19 and 130/90/17, the rear is so old it still says MT90B17)Basically I’m stuck to Dunlop’s D404 if I want a matching front and rear in my size. Now I don’t hate this tire but they’re both dated looking for today and look almost, too new for a really retro look (I’m thinking like ribbed tires retro, or even more modern for ease of finding tires, and for better performance) I know about the obvious drawbacks on changing tire sizes, and the loss in performance if I went more classicSo changing up the rim and tire size, is it justifiable (from an aesthetic or performance point of view) or should I just trust the tried and true D404’s? What’s the more veteran’s thoughts on this, since it’s my first build (which in case anyone is wondering, is going startlingly well, I am very very surprised) via /r/CafeRacers https://www.reddit.com/r/CafeRacers/comments/aumv8n/rule_of_thumb_for_wheelstires/?utm_source=ifttt
