Sooo, I'm new to the Motorsports in general but whoever creates all their digital media, marketing and promotional material absolutely need to be lauded for how friendly it has felt to learn about MotoGP and get vested. I still have a long way to go but I've been casually reading about the bikes, tests, and engineering (such amazing stuff) for about 5-6 months now. It took a few videos of the power they're working with and a couple crash videos to really get a sense of the extremeness of the sport.
I'm digging into the rider history now and the highlights and events of the past few seasons to feel current. I have yet to grow attached to any singular rider but I think it's interesting that Marquez, Lorenzo and Crutchlow are all coming back from different kinds of injuries which seems to leave a door open for underdogs to shine (correct me if this newbie opinion doesn't hold up for any reason). I think 2019 should be quite interesting and out of the ordinary for newly interested people like me. That being said, with all the wealth of information, i'm still having a hard time understanding some team dynamics and am curious about a few things.
----
As i'm learning about the point system, I read this off the site:
"Teams in the MotoGP™ class are in principle comprised of two riders. All points scored by both riders in the Team, including substitutes or replacements, count towards the Team Championship. In the case of a one rider Team, only the points scored by that rider count towards the Team Championship."
**TLDR:*\*
Do both first and second riders of a team get the same kind of attention and budgeting from their sponsors? Are they treated same as far as what they require to win and succeed? For example, How does it work for factory team Repsol Honda's world champ winning combo of Marquez and now Lorenzo versus a satellite team? What goes on inside the team and management and how they manage their money? This could be a dumb question but I know these dudes are getting paid and I'm wondering how things may factor for or against them on a financial end out of sheer curiosity. I can't seem to find much reading online about this.
