Is James Whitham usually like that?

This was the first WSBK race weekend I've watched in two or three years. The one thing that stuck out, apart from Bautista decimating the field, was James' commentary.

He spent a weirdly long amount of time downplaying Bautista's performance over the weekend (kinda came across like he was bitter that an ex-MotoGP rider won his debut). He criticized the riders a bunch (when he called De Rosa "a bit of a poser" after his crash in WSS) and talked about himself racing "back in his day" CONSTANTLY. Maybe it's just me, but his commentary was actively irritating, and almost made me want to mute the race, which is the opposite of what a commentator is supposed to do.
