Why does KTM compete in MotoGP?

The total cost of being in MotoGP has to be tons of millions of dollars. I can see for companies like Ducati who basically took their V4 from GP and adapted the technology to design the V4R, that there is value there. Also, it is great for the brand to have a successful MotoGP and WSBK teams since Ducati relies on the sales of their superbikes.

KTM however does not sell any supersport or superbikes anymore. Why invest the countless millions of dollars, not do well (that could be argued as their 1st year in, perhaps they win the title next year (unlikely)), but what financial benefit does it give the company? Perhaps they have so much money lying around that they can't figure out how to spend, so they rejoined MotoGP? That at least is an answer. But I dont think Motocross guys will likely buy a KTM MX bike because KTM is in GP.
