I'd recommend re-watching Assen 2016 this weekend, if possible.
First of all, it's a fantastic race. Jack Miller's first MotoGP win. First non-factory race winner since Toni ElĂas. Yonny Hernandez leading for several laps. Flag-to-flag drama, horrendous conditions, crashes, battles. It also helps put into perspective the 2018 Silverstone cancellation decision. Just after the 1/2 point of the race, torrential rainfall started. Shortly afterwards, the race was red-flagged. Standing water was starting to accumulate and not only did it severely affect grip levels, but visibility also became a very impaired. Understanding the conditions in which that race was red-flagged, I am not surprised by last weekends decision.Furthermore, Scott Redding was fighting with the lead group and appeared to be the fastest man on track right before the red-flag. He was visibly upset when the race was stopped. I think he really rides well in these extreme wet conditions and explains why he was one of the riders who were ok with racing on Sunday.Anyway, enjoy the weekend everyone!
