In defense of COTA...

After the race in Texas a lot of people, in this sub and other places, were complaining, rightfully, about how boring the race was. And it was a pretty terrible race. Its just the character of the track, it doesn't lend itself to close exciting battles. There were a lot of people wanting it to be removed from the calendar. I agree that it was the most boring race of the year, and probably will be next year as well. But removing it from the calendar would be a big mistake.I've been to multiple racing complexes around the world to see MotoGP, F1, FE and NASCAR. The one facility that offers the greatest experience in COTA. From the customer service, to grandstand views, to entertainment, this facility is great. And its safe to say that capturing more of the American market would be good for the sport. So having exciting races in places like Assen or Argentina are good to get Americans to the track, and having a track like COTA is good to make them loyal to the sport. I went with family, people who have never been to a race before, and to this day they're interested in the sport and wish to return next year. All because of how fun and accessible the track is.I know that does nothing for most people who sit at home and watch a boring race. But removing COTA from the calendar is a bad for the future of the sport in America.
