I know someone selling an SL90 for what I think might be a reasonable price. It's all stock, very clean and shiny original blue paint. Took a bit to get it started but it did start and run but was obviously rough & in need of a good tune up since it's been sitting a long time. Shifted through all gears fine, all electrical works, no rust except little superficial spots on some of the chrome. I'd definitely need to take apart and clean the carb & clean out the tank since I'm sure they're all gummed up from old gasoline. It Has pink slip and currently registered non-op. It's been kept garaged with about 150 other vintage bikes he's collected over the years. From what I've found, the SL was only made in 1969 so it's kind of rare.My question is, would this be a good bike to modify a little bit into like a cafe racer/brat? Or would it be a bad idea because maybe finding parts to fit it might be hard since it was only made 1yr? My plan would be to modify it a little here and there to get more of a cafe/brat look but I don't want to go crazy with a full-on custom mod tricked out bike. I'm thinking 1) switch to cafe bars 2) maybe lower the stance 3) take off the fenders 4) cafe style seat 5) different tires that are more "street" tires 6) different exhaustSo, is this a bad bike to use for my build plans? I don't really have plans to trick out the motor in any way, I will just rebuild it because I specifically don't want a larger bike or engine because I'm petite and need a small bike and because I only use it for tootling around town, I don't ride fast, I don't ride on freeways/highways, I don't ride long distances, and I only weigh 110lbs so I think 90cc should be able to carry me.Whatcha think? via /r/CafeRacers https://www.reddit.com/r/CafeRacers/comments/93bs7p/honda_sl90_a_good_bike_for_a_cafebrat_build/?utm_source=ifttt
