Sector+ for Jerez

For anyone interested in how Jerez turned out under the rider rating system, Sector+, I'm trying to build:Marc Marquez solidified his lead in overall Sector+, posting the third best overall score at 74, one point shy of co-leaders Dani Pedrosa and Johann Zarco. Given that Pedrosa lost the majority of S3 to the crash with Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo, he likely would have posted the top score for the race as his Sector+ average of 4.14 topped the grid. Dovizioso and Lorenzo were 2nd and 3rd in average Sector+ (4.02 and 3.83 respectively) showing clearly better pace than had been expected of the Ducatis and, along with Pedrosa, pushed hard as they dropped Zarco, especially in the laps of S3 leading up to the crash where they all posted an average Sector+ of 4.77.Zarco and Marquez both slowed considerably in S3 (1.84 and 1.39) at least potentially because the pressure from the chasing Lorenzo/Dovizioso/Pedrosa trio was eliminated. Finishers largely matched their Sector+ rank through the rest of the field with Danilo Petrucci (S3 of 17) and Valentino Rossi (S3 of 19) putting in strong S3 scores to overtake Jack Miller (S3 of 14).MotoGPChampionship ptsSector+ ptsSector+ avgMarc Marquez25742.96Johann Zarco20752.98Andrea Iannone16562.25Danilo Petrucci13592.35Valentino Rossi11471.89Jack Miller10501.57Maverick Vinales9281.1Alvaro Bautista8331.34Franco Morbidelli7-7-0.29Mika Kallio6-20-0.79Pol Espargaro5-37-1.47Takaaki Nakagami4-34-1.37Bradley Smith3-25-1.01Tito Rabat2-31-1.26Scott Redding1-95-3.78Hafizh Syahrin0-109-4.26Xavier Simeon0-116-4.65Karel Abraham0-79-3.27Jorge LorenzoDNF693.83Andrea DoviziosoDNF724.02Dani PedrosaDNF754.14Cal CrutchlowDNF422.47Thomas LuthiDNF-25-2.05Alex RinsDNF172.91Aleix EspargaroDNF00I'm also trying to do some light visualizations of the scores, although apparently I don't know how to embed images in a post.![MotoGP](http://www.onedaylucky.com/assets/img/raceviz/motogp_jerez_2018.png)Luca Marini was blazingly fast, for the first few sectors until he fell off, setting the best average Sector+ at 4.30, but Xavi Vierge set the top Sector+ total for the day with 82 with an average of 3.57 on his way to 4th place in the race. Lorenzo Baldassarri took the race win but was never at the top of the Sector+ scores and only posted competitive scores in S2. He was outside the top 5 in S1 and S3, but held on for the win regardless. Miguel Oliveira had a good race with a 78 overall and 3.40 average Sector+ to take the overall lead and second in average for the season.Romano Fenati put up the first top 5 segment he has managed this season with a 3.10 average in S1 before falling at the end of the segment. That single segment was still enough to earn him top rookie honors with a total Sector+ of 22, ahead of Bo Bendsneyder (4) and the ailing Joan Mir (1).Moto2Championship ptsSector+ ptsSector+ avgLorenzo Baldassarri25592.57Miguel Oliveira20783.4Francesco Bagnaia16642.8Xavi Vierge13823.57Mattia Pasini11773.37Brad Binder10572.47Marcel Schrotter9331.44Sam Lowes8281.21Iker Lecuona7341.46Fabio Quartararo6241.04Joan Mir510.04Simone Corsi480.34Tetsuta Nagashima3-4-0.18Hector Barbera2-19-0.81Andrea Locatelli1-16-0.78Bo Bendsneyder04-0.69Jorge Navarro0462Khairul Idham0-31-1.36Isaac Vinales0-86-3.72Lukas Tulovic0-86-3.74Federico Fuligni0-78-3.4Xavi Cardelus0-95-4.14Hector Garzo0-103-4.48Jules Danilo0-107-4.84Steven OdendaalDNF-36-1.64Joe RobertsDNF-26-1.44Alex MarquezDNF302.98Danny KentDNF-5-0.47Zulfahmi KhairuddinDNF-37-3.68Stefano ManziDNF-29-3.27Romano FenatiDNF223.1Eric GranadoDNF-14-4.69Luca MariniDNF44.3![Moto2](http://www.onedaylucky.com/assets/img/raceviz/moto2_jerez_2018.png)On the tight, flowing Jerez circuit there was no breakaway group of leaders and the narrow overtaking opportunities had everyone in the pack of up to 18 riders in the lead group cutting each other up at every corner. The end result was a great race, and Sector+ scores all very tightly grouped around the benchmark rider as 15th place got dragged along with the pack. The only two statistically divergent riders were Tony Arbolino and Alonso Lopez. Arbolino started 21st and quickly made his way through the pack, posting a Sector+ for S1 of 15, higher than all but Lopez's Sector+ for the entire race. After he got to the front, his Sector+ slowed to match the other top riders, with a 7 in S2 and a 5 in S3 before falling with a few laps remaining in the race. Lopez started in the lead group before an unforced error took him to 17th place halfway through S1. He pushed back through the pack with Sector+ scores of 8 and 9 to lead the scoring for the latter 2/3s of the race.Philipp Oettl was competitive on Sector+ throughout the race, posting similar scores lap by lap to the others in the lead pack until the final few laps when he and Marco Bezzecchi each put in their best scores. Bezzecchi led all riders in S3 with a Sector+ of 12 chasing down Oettl.Moto3Championship ptsSector+ ptsSector+ avgPhilipp Oettl25140.63Marco Bezzecchi20120.57Marcos Ramirez1630.13Alonso Lopez13160.71Jaume Masia11150.69Tatsuki Suzuki1090.39Fabio Di Giannantonio9-2-0.09Jakub Kornfeil880.38Kaito Toba7110.52Gabriel Rodrigo690.39Niccolo Antonelli590.41Ayumu Sasaki4-5-0.24Andrea Migno3-14-0.65Makar Yurchenko2-8-0.35Ai Ogura1-56-2.54Adam Norrodin0-58-2.63Nicolo Bulega0-65-2.95Livio Loi0-63-2.85Nakarin Atiratphuvapat0-65-2.95Kazuki Masaki0-82-3.73Enea BastianiniDNF60.31Tony ArbolinoDNF271.43Jorge MartinDNF60.33Aron CanetDNF00.01Albert ArenasDNF-48-3.41Lorenzo Dalla PortaDNF-12-11.75Dennis FoggiaDNF00John McPheeDNF-7-7.31Jeremy AlcobaDNF-3-3.21![Moto3](http://www.onedaylucky.com/assets/img/raceviz/moto3_jerez_2018.png)I'm still sorting through the setup for the additional data provided by u/gnualmafuerte, but since there's no race this weekend I'll have time with nothing worth watching. Sector+ isn't a thing yet, but I'd like to make it an interesting thing.
