General Interest: I am looking for a lightweight motorcycle to get around in town. I don't need a lot of power and weight / size conservation, plus convenience are the most important things. I don't need a high top speed and will not use this one for getting on the highway. Basically, I will ride in town and on some county roads. I would like something classic (60's / 70's) looking and sporty that can be modified to a cafe approach.I would love to hear any feedback on what I have listed (preferences and dislikes), any ideas I have not considered, and certainly attempts to dissuade me on my "do not want" list. Thank you all for your input. These are some bikes I am considering...Sym Wolf -- These are essentially a Honda subsidiary remaking the CB125 that is bored-out to 150. They seem to have great reviews on everything but the paint / decaling. Last fall i was dreaming up ways to modify one by replacing the tank and seat.TU250x -- This is the bike to which I lean most. Modern parts with classic look. I find the fuel injection very appealing. I have not seen many full-on cafe conversions of this bike, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult. Price is pretty reasonable.Honda 350 twin -- This is a lighter CB, and there is one in pretty serviceable condition for sale near me. Eminently popular for a cafe build. Maybe a little heavier / bigger than I need or want.Honda CB200 -- Classic. This one is pretty light, and I like the gas tank on this one best. These come up for sale in pretty good condition - I think because they are so underpowered that people didn't ride them much. No matter for me.Skyteam Ace -- This is something I would absolutely love to have though not available in the US (to my knowledge). True, it's Chinese and probably cheaply made. But it is pretty cool looking. I'd pay to get one of these.Cleveland Cyclewerks -- Chinese made but based on a pretty good motor. Pretty inexpensive. Never seen one in person.Bikes I know I do not want...Honda Grom -- I don't like any of the very modern (or small-wheeled) crotch-rocket look. They look like a monkey-bike crotch-rocket.Royal Enfield -- They seem sort of shoddy to me. They look cool but run rough as hell and seem to rust and have many cheap parts.Janus -- Neat looking but boutique pricing for a Chinese motor. I'd rather throw that money at reconditioning something Japanese or British ($7k+).Yamaha SR400 -- Bigger motor and heavier bike than the TU250, with not much more power. Overall, the tu250 looks much more appealing.Suzuki Vanvan -- Kind of goofy looking, maybe fun to ride, but not the style I want. What are your opinions? via /r/CafeRacers https://www.reddit.com/r/CafeRacers/comments/8ir8yh/looking_for_advice_on_lightweight_cafe_bike/?utm_source=ifttt
