Apologies in advance if there's a "weekly stupid questions" thread, but I didn't find one.
I just started following MotoGP this season, but I've done plenty of reading on previous seasons, watched the documentaries, subscribed to Video Pass and have watched some previous year races (thanks for those posts!), etc. My only real context is that I've watched F1 for a few years.
With that in mind, I'm trying to understand how Dovi was able to win in Qatar, yet Marquez seems to be in a league of his own in Buenos Aires and COTA. Granted, BA was a mess, but Marquez's pace was a level up on everyone else.
Is the Repsol Honda just better suited to BA and COTA? If so, what makes it better suited? Aero? Straight-line speed? Something else?
Additionally, how much parity is there between machines in MotoGP? In F1 you currently have two machines on one level, another one close behind, and then everyone else is relatively equal. Hows does MotoGP look in comparison?
Lastly, there's a clear difference between Marquez and Pedrosa on the Repsol - is it just "built around Marquez?" or is he that much better?
Sorry if this comes across as a Marquez circle jerk - I'm rooting for Dovi - but in the past two races he's been the outlier, and I'm trying to get a better feel for the sport.
Thanks!
