Just got back from CoTA and want to share my experience for this weekend. Summery: its freaking awesome. Got to sit on the grand stand, watched dry qualifying for gp and wet race for american superbike and saw a lot of insane action on the track. Big shout out to PATS PARKING!! This is a parking lot behind turn 1 and on elroy road next to a dollar general. They charged us $10 for parking and served us amazing mexican food and beers and sodas FOR FREE!! Check them out next time you go. Will not be disappointed. I sat by turn 12 at the end of the straight away. In my option best place to watch the race. You get to see them up the hills from turn 1 to 9. And they come flying down the mains straight and breaks heavy af into turn 12. Turn 10 &11 and 17-19 is the only blind spot but there's a tv screen right in front of you. Saturday during practice & quali a lot of riders were hitting the apex inside curb on turn 12 and the bike wobbles pretty hard on exit. Towards the end of the session riders were generally avoiding that curb. During the gp qualifying I got to see Marquez crash at turn 13. It was pretty epic to see him jump back onto a scooter and get on his B bike to set another pole position. I know theres some drama going on with Marquez on this sub but to see him in action finding the limit of the track, crashing and going right back out was just jaw dropping. Mad respect for him and i think a lot of the fans there feel the same way. I also think the penalty for him was a little harsh. To be honest, A LOT of riders were slowing down at turn 14 and 15 to either let the fast guys pass or to draft behind someone. To me it does seem like an honest mistake for him to block the other guys race line. Around 3 pm the superbikes came out for there last practice before race 1. I noticed that a lot of superbike riders were backing it into turn 12 and i did not see the gp riders do that. Thought it was interesting. Immediately after practice the rain came. Visibility was total shit and i can tell the riders are way more cautious and shifted there breaking point back 100 yards or so for turn 12. Still it was total madness seeing those guys hauling ass in the rain. I only got to the track in time for the main gp race today and im not going to say much since most of y'all saw it on tv. It was amazing to see Marquez take the lead and start pulling the gap in the first few races. I feel bad for Crutchlow crashing out and missing out on scoring points. One of the suzuki riders lost the bike on the exit of turn 12 and his bike was stranded on the edge of the track. He keeps waving to the other riders to avoid his bike. Eventually the corner workers pushed his bike off track and he retired to the applause of the fans.Overall its probably the most exciting weekend of this year for me and I can't wait till the next track day to ride the track myself ( ridesmart does track days on cota for $399 check them out if you're interested). Apologies for the bad grammer and syntax. It almost seems like Im rambling but I had to share my experience at this track. via /r/motogp https://www.reddit.com/r/motogp/comments/8e7ppm/just_got_back_from_the_race/?utm_source=ifttt
